The clocks have changed

Is it time to spring forward or fall back?

As the clocks changed last weekend, I wondered, as many of us do - are we springing forward or falling back?

The end of October is often a time I need to remind myself to embrace the coming months, so despite the fact the days are shorter and colder, I talk up the comfort to be found in warm jumpers, cosy scarves and sturdy boots. And I do love a really good stew!

But this season the clock change came at a time I am making changes in my career and I want to be springing forward, I don’t want to feel that I’m falling back.

I found myself reflecting that it isn’t only about adjusting our clocks; it’s a powerful metaphor for the changes we face in life and work. For many, the question looms: how can we keep moving forward, even when things around us slow down or seem to fall back?

My new role is all about that, so I work alongside people, helping them to find ways to keep their momentum, set clear goals, and adapt positively to change. Using experience from the legal and financial world combined with coaching skills and techniques, I work with families, businesses, and professionals to move forward, whether through succession planning, navigating transitions, or clarifying personal definitions of success.

Coaching is all about looking to the future, creating a vision, and taking steps to make it a reality. So, as the days get shorter, it’s an invitation to reflect and realign. What do you want to bring into focus? What might hold you back? Embracing this seasonal shift doesn’t need to mean you fall back, or that you go into hibernation.

It might sound a bit cheesy, but I like the idea of taking some time to spring forward in life, work, and beyond.

I’m convinced, and if you are too, I’d love to chat with you to see if you’re interested in some coaching work and how I might join you on a journey of discovery, goal-setting and being successful on your terms.
